IGN is seeking a highly motivated Revenue Accountant to support the Revenue Team. The Revenue Analyst will be responsible for month end close, reconciliations, analysis and reporting of revenue and related costs as well as interaction with billing, GL and FP&A teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in general accounting and also be interested to tackle more complex areas involving revenue recognition.
What does that mean exactly?
- Play an active role in the monthly close and reporting process including preparation of journal entries, account analysis and reconciliation of all revenue and AR accounts for a multi-entity company
- Manage deferred revenue schedules, waterfalls and related reconciliations
- Calculate complex revenue share allocations using multiple data sources including third party data
- Review contract terms for revenue recognition related matters and appropriate accounting treatment
- Manage quarterly sales commissions calculation process
- Play a key role in company-wide revenue forecast management
- Work closely with FP&A on monthly P&L reporting to ensure accuracy of revenue estimates and actuals for each business unit
- Identify and implement meaningful metrics to measure business results and success
- Own weekly revenue dashboard / flash report
- Maintain revenue product SKU and GL account mappings
- Document internal processes and identify opportunities for improvement for systems, workflow, and reporting
- Assist with system upgrade and conversion project initiatives
- Assist with client billings and reconciliations as needed
What will get you in the door…
- BS/BA degree in accounting or finance
- 8+ years progressive experience in revenue accounting
- In depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP, particularly in regards to revenue recognition
- You have strong desktop computer skills, including advanced knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Strong technical GL reconciliation skills
- You are systems savvy with knowledge of Oracle Financials, NetSuite and/or Salesforce.com.
- Ability to translate large amounts of data into useful information and actionable conclusions
- You have the ability to self-start and self-direct work in an dynamic, often ambiguous, environment with an open-minded, enthusiastic and creative approach to problem solving
- Ability to research technical accounting issues and communicate relevant conclusions
- Experience collaborating cross functionally (legal, accounting, sales, ad ops) to ensure optimal revenue performance against contracts
It would be extra awesome if...
- You have experience in system conversion / implementation experience
- You have digital media, online advertising, software or high tech industry experience
- Understanding of the basics of online advertising industry, pricing models, and online campaign performance metrics strongly preferred
