IGN is the #1 video game portal on the Internet. We are looking for a Web Developer to work with our team of engineers at our headquarters in San Francisco, CA. Here the team works on our social apps, media products, and new business strategy.

As a Web Developer on our video team you will be responsible for working with the team on web applications, video players, web APIs, CMS tools, and other systems powering IGN's video experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a team of engineers to build modern API-driven web applications 
  • Development of front-end web pages using modern interpreted server-side languages such as PHP, Python, or Ruby and standard HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript 
  • Optimizing performance of the API, web server tier, and front-end applications 
  • Establishing web and front-end best practices
     

Requirements:

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline (or equivalent). 
  • 2+ years experience developing large scale software applications 
  • Object-Oriented Programming, MVC, and RESTful web services experience 
  • Experience with Linux, git, and modern software development practices such as agile development, test-driven development, continuous integration, and continuous delivery 
  • Track record solving difficult problems with cross-functional teams 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Web API experience using Ruby, Python, and Java and modern databases such as MongoDB and MySQL a plus
